Version 0.9 of Thematic was launched a few days ago. Because of this the PageDrop Theme is no longer useful and will be discontinued since Thematic now offers an out of the box drop-down menu.
If you’ve been working with Thematic and your not really into HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP and everything related (I guess the only thing missing from that list was MySQL 
) you probably know that Thematic just doesn’t support drop-down menus out of the box.

After quite a success with my CatDrop Childtheme that replaces Thematic’s the main menu with a drop-down menu of categories, I promised a post and childtheme in the future that will do the same with the pages menu. Although a bit late on my promise here is PageDrop Childtheme!
In order to install it you have to download the Thematic Theme (from which this child theme inherits all of the functionality), upload both themes (PageDrop and Thematic) to your server in the themes folder AND THEN ACTIVATE the PageDrop theme.

Is there anything else, above activating this theme making sure Thematic is in the Themes Directory, that also needs doing to get this working?
I’ve assigned pages as children to other pages in /wp-admin/edit-pages.php which are not appearing on mouseover. Check it out at http://digitalcortex.net – all help appreciated.

@freedimensio try and disable your plugins one by one and see if that make any effect. There is a conflict with jQuery and I don’t know what’s causing it!

You were right.
Unfortunately the problem was caused by my favourite plugin, Tubepress, which allowed me to display my favourite YouTube videos automatically, and have them play in a flash lightbox.
Hopefully there’ll be another, similar plugin to do this, as now I’ve seen your PageDrop working, there’s no going back.

I love both CatDrop and PageDrop! Is there any possibility of a future Thematic themelet that has both a category dropdown navbar AND a page dropdown navbar? Or am I just crazy for wanting both?
@Lee your request is going to be answered not by me but by Ian Stewart who plans to launch two thematic themelets with Thematic 0.9 that will help developers whit their sample code and one of them has both the DropDown menu and the DropDown Category!!! I’m not exactly sure when this will happen but it’s not far away!
PS: did I mention Thematic will have drop-down menus by default?
I’ve been playing around with the trunk (alpha/beta not sure) version of thematic .9 and it is really nice. The menus word splendidly. After much searching for good frameworks and looking at how theme developers are building their sites, I must say, the Thematic framework is top notch. Even the insides are elegantly and clearly laid out. I hope to be able to contribute back to this excellent project as I develop with it in the future.

I had read about your category drop-down in the Thematic forums and adapted the code to work in my child theme. Everything was fine until i upgraded to 0.9 .. and now the it does not run. How can i switch the menu to show categories in 0.9? ive also posted a query in the forum and was looking you might answer it…
@Him I haven’t had a chance to update the CatDrop Childtheme to the latest version of Thematic. I’m considering writing a new tutorial this week as the info posted in this post no longer applies to the current version 0.9.
